Daily Delight

For the past few months, I have been driving until I hear that familiar "ding" letting me know it’s time to fill my car with fuel. In that moment, I immediately panic and worry, questioning if I’m going to end up stranded somewhere on the side of the road. Can anyone else relate? Why do we do this to ourselves when we know it’s not going to end well?

This makes me wonder: how often do we do the exact same thing with God? We continuously go on and on until we simply can’t anymore. We press forward with the daily hustle and bustle of work, errands, family duties, and the like. We end up exhausted. Eventually, we decide we’ve had enough. What we truly need is rest—we need Jesus.

In Scripture, when Moses is being instructed by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, he requests for guidance and continued favor from the Lord. Have you ever been in a similar situation? Notice how God replies, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14, NIV). Sweet friends, we are longed for by the Father, not only when we’re tired and beat down, but before, during, and after. He is with us daily, so don’t be afraid to lean on Him. God wants nothing more than for us to find peace in His presence, even if it is only a brief moment, a whisper as you’re doing laundry, a pause at work. God is always there with you! How beautiful is that? There is mercy and grace in time of need. Paul states, “…he is not far from any one of us” (Acts 17:27, NIV).

Don't wait until you’re on empty. Let God fill you so you never, ever have to be stranded again. He is able!
