At the age of 21, I entered into a relationship that would change my life forever. It started out as most new relationships do—full of hope and expectancy—but it exposed some harsh realities and ended with me carrying a label I never chose or signed up for: divorced. The word stung like a jagged blade twisting through my heart. I never thought it would hurt as much as it did.

Sisters, what label is following you around? Whatever label others give you, or whatever lies the enemy tries to throw at you, know this: God does not define you in the same way the world does. Others may remind you of and limit you to your label, but God never will. God sees our potential because of His blameless Son Jesus. He is not restricted by the box society puts us in. Knowing who we are in Christ helps us deny and release the false labels and messages of the world.

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." -Romans 8:1 (NIV)

Jesus set us free from labels. He made a way when there was no way.
He calls out of the darkness and into the light. I used to think that I had to have it all together to be able to serve God, but the truth is, He isn't calling the perfect, the people who "have it all together". He's calling the broken, the messy, the hurting and the lost; because the fact of the matter is, we are all broken and messy. We are all in need of a Savior.

Friends, you are more than the words spoken to you, the labels put on you, and the ugly past that will try to limit you. You are a Daughter of a King, a jewel in His crown. God is calling you out of the lies, out of the pit of the past. He will use you for His glory, He will use you right where you are. Focus on His Word and what He says about you, not on the words or labels others put on you.

"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." -Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
