My father passed away suddenly a few years ago, and since then, I haven’t been able to shake the crippling anxiety of losing loved ones. I was lying in bed just the other week when I got an overwhelming sense of fear. My thoughts went in overdrive, and my heart began to race. I am moving countries this year, leaving my loved ones, and I have to face the reality that I can’t check up on them whenever I want.

I have had to come to terms that this is okay because it is not up to me to be a protector, it’s up to God.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
-2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)

When we let the enemy fill us with lies and fear, they hold us back from the very thing God has purposed us for. Think back to how many times you have been scared to do something. Now think about the outcome. Was it really that bad? Or did God do a radical transformation in you through stepping out, trusting Him, and having faith that He is in control?

When life becomes overwhelming, I want you to hold onto this precious little verse:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

God desires nothing more than for you to run into His arms. He wants to settle your thoughts and calm your heart.

"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." -Psalm 91:4 (NIV)
