The greatest love story in the history of the world began with a baby born in a manger, wrapped in swaddling clothes. When God sent His only Son to this world to die on the cross, pay the penalty for our sins, and become the ultimate sacrifice, it changed the definition of love, it became the true definition of love.

God's love for us is bigger than anything this world could ever offer; a love so grand, so profound, it changed the course of history and eternity for us.

"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
-Romans 5:8 (NIV)

The love that was demonstrated for us represents pure, sacrificial love.

We all want to be loved, and yet, we seek love in all the wrong places. We hope to satisfy our longing to be loved and desired through relationships, but earthly love is no match for God's love. We may try to fill the longing void in our hearts with worldly comforts, but we soon realize that nothing in this world can compare to love that was displayed on the Cross for us. Our finite minds and hearts seem to only identify with what is tangible, visible and humanly comprehensible but God's love is uncontainable and insurmountable, and it will satisfy every heart's eternal desire to be loved.

Today and every day, we need to remind ourselves that God is love

"We love because He first loved us." -1 John 4:19 (NIV)

It doesn't matter what our relationship status is today or tomorrow, the love that has been lavished on us (1 John 3, NIV) is more than enough. The only thing that will satisfy the longing and desire to be loved is to understand the sacrifice that Jesus made on the Cross of Calvary.

Sisters, I hope you feel loved today. I pray that you understand the depth and magnitude of how much you are loved. God's love for you cannot be contained, it's more than you could ever imagine.

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
-1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)
