When Life Feels Heavy: God Daily Bears Us Up

“What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!”

Life doesn’t always go the way we planned. Sometimes, it takes a sharp turn—one we never saw coming and certainly never wanted. Even the most seasoned believer can feel overwhelmed by the weight of an unexpected trial.

When One Hard Season Follows Another

It’s especially discouraging when you’ve been clinging to the hope that a difficult season is coming to an end—only to find another one waiting around the corner.

You’re desperate for something to change:
A breakthrough.
A word of hope.
A release.
A healing.

Instead, you’re met with silence.

You start to wonder if God sees you at all. Every day becomes a tug-of-war between faith and doubt as you do your best to hold onto His promises.

You Are Not Alone

If that’s where you are, friend, know this: you are not alone.

I’ve walked through those barren winter seasons too. And in one of my darkest moments, God whispered to me through Psalm 68:19 (ESV):

“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up…”

This short but powerful verse became a lifeline. It reminded me that even when I couldn’t feel Him, God was with me—carrying me.

The Lord Is Our Daily Sustainer

This Scripture reveals something profound: God doesn’t just show up occasionally to help us. He is involved in our everyday, lifting us, strengthening us, and walking beside us.

Even when our lives feel barren and bleak—like the dead of winter—He is present and actively sustaining us.

Jesus, like the good Shepherd, is our burden-bearer.

“In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33, ESV

He is our refuge. He invites our weary hearts to rest until spring arrives again.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28, ESV

When You’re Tempted to Doubt

The temptation to doubt is real, especially when our circumstances feel unchanging. But Scripture invites us to keep pressing in—to keep seeking, abiding, and trusting in the One who never leaves nor forsakes us.

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8, ESV

So the next time doubt begins to creep in, pause.

Take a deep breath. Exhale slowly. And declare:

“You daily bear us up—blessed be the Lord.”

Final Encouragement

You don’t have to carry the weight of this season on your own. God sees you, loves you, and lifts you—daily. Let this truth anchor your heart in hope, even when everything around you feels uncertain.
