He Heard You the First Time: Trusting God in the Silence

Have you ever poured your heart out to God and then… nothing? No lightning bolt. No whisper. Just silence?

You wonder, Did He hear me? Is He doing anything?

Friend, you are not alone – and you are not unheard.

When God Feels Silent

One of the most discouraging things in the Christian walk is the silence that sometimes follows heartfelt prayer. We want immediate answers, clear signs, or even a sense of peace. But often, what we receive is quiet.

That silence can make us feel like our prayers have hit the ceiling and fallen flat. But Scripture tells a different story—one that offers deep reassurance.

A Glimpse Behind the Curtain (Daniel 10)

In Daniel 10, we get an extraordinary look into the spiritual realm. Daniel has been seeking the Lord through prayer and fasting when an angel appears and says:

Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days…” —Daniel 10:12–13 (NIV)

Did you catch that? “Since the first day…”

God heard Daniel immediately. But the answer was delayed because of spiritual resistance.

This is incredibly significant. It means that when you pray—when you cry, whisper, or can barely form the words—God hears you right away. Even when it seems like nothing is happening, something is. Battles are being fought. Answers are on the way.

When the Delay Feels Heavy

If you’re the woman praying for breakthrough, healing, or direction—keep going.

God is not distant. He’s not ignoring you. He’s working in ways you cannot yet see.

“For we live by faith, not by sight.” —2 Corinthians 5:7

Silence is not absence. Delay is not denial. Sometimes God is arranging things behind the scenes, protecting you, or fighting for you in unseen battles. And sometimes, the waiting is where our faith is most deeply refined.

If You're Not Sure Where You Stand

Maybe you’re not even sure what you believe. Maybe you’re just curious, reading this post because something in you wonders if there’s more.

Try talking to Him. No fancy words—just honesty.

If you set your heart to seek Him, He promises to respond.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
—Jeremiah 29:13

He is closer than you think.

The Truth You Can Hold On To

Whether you’ve known Jesus for decades or you’re just starting to look His way—this is truth: He heard you the first time.

Even if the answer takes time. Even if you feel like nothing is happening. You are heard. You are seen. And you are deeply loved.

A Prayer for the Waiting

Father, thank You for hearing me the moment I pray. Give me peace and strengthen my faith in the waiting. For the woman unsure where she stands with You, meet her gently. Thank You for being near, for fighting for me, and for never giving up on Your daughters. Amen.

Her greatest desire? That her words carry heaven’s breath—that, like the woman with the little jar of oil in 2 Kings 4, God would multiply what she offers in faith and obedience to overflow into the lives of many.
