God Is Not Surprised: Trusting the One Who Holds Every Moment

Life may take you by surprise, but it is securely held in the hands of an omniscient God.

When Overthinking Takes Over

Overthinking often leads us down the rabbit hole of whys and what ifs. We spiral, trying to figure it all out, fix it all ourselves, and find peace in our own understanding.

One day, as I was not-so-graciously presenting my questions to God, He gently reminded me of this verse:

“Your eyes saw me when I was formless;
all my days were written in your book and planned
before a single one of them began.”

—Psalm 139:16 (CSB)

All my days were written in Your book…
Take a moment to let that sink in.

Every Moment Already Known

David beautifully declares God’s perfect knowledge—not only of our thoughts and actions, but also of our fears, uncertainties, and unspoken prayers.

Every single day of your life—whether good, hard, confusing, or joyful—God knows it, and He holds it all.

This is your reminder today, friend:
Nothing takes God by surprise.

You Are Not Walking Alone

Every bridge you’re meant to cross.
Every valley you’re destined to walk through.
Every hill you’re supposed to climb.
God is present with you in all of it.

If you're unsure about the next step, rest in this promise from Isaiah 30:21:

“And whenever you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: ‘This is the way. Walk in it.’”

Even when you don’t feel confident in your direction, your Shepherd is guiding you.

Reflection Questions

What emotion is hindering you from trusting God’s plan for you?
What’s one step of faith you can take today to show God you trust Him?

A Prayer for Today

Gracious Heavenly Father,

I am weak, but You are strong. I surrender my heart and all my fears into Your mighty hands, knowing that You are a Good Shepherd to me. Thank You for always leading me well. Amen.
